Four & Twenty Blackbirds...

"Four & Twenty" nothing... truth be told, he is a solitary soul!
I'm thinking he's a Brewer's Blackbird.   For the past two weeks
he has been hanging around our backyard patio
with our Mourning Doves (rather "odd" company, if you ask me!)
I snapped this photo as he tried to dry himself off
from the all-day (much needed) showers here in South Jersey.

  3. Oh I love blackbirds of all kinds. Back home in TX we had Boat-tailed Grackles, and though they were considered pests and "trash birds", I love them still. Here in AZ we have Common Ravens. They are HUGE and fascinating to me. Your little Brewer's fellow has the most amazing colors! Maybe he's made a nest and you will enjoy visiting with him all summer. :~)
