The Process... Hand & Heart!

 

Some cardboard & masking tape...

A packing tube for a base...

A little paper pulp & paper clay... more masking tape!

A heavy wrapping paper heart with a keyhole...

A splash of color using the "smoke graining" technique

and acrylic paint...

The finish: 

apply Walnut Stain, scrape off...

apply Gesso mixed with sand, scrape off...

then scrape some more, for good measure!

Phat Cat... a curious tabby, if ever there was one!

The show theme is simply: "whimsy"...

Raven is a character, for sure!

He is all heart... (and a little sass)!

It's that quizzical expression that I'm loving.

A purple balloon and some recycled packing paper...

A block of wood, some Osnaburg fabric, masking tape

and a messy mixture of water and white wood glue!

The End... Tsk! Tsk!

Great Horned to the Gallery

After adding a wash of acrylic paint 

to his wing and chest feathers...

he was given a light wash of raw sienna.

 

I took a bit of artistic license with his ear feathers!

The show... "Guilty Pleasures" opens next Friday,

January 20th @ 6 p.m. in Millville, NJ...

at the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts.
