Queen Anne Cage Doll

I am using 10 oz. cotton canvas
for the body bodice
and have attach a wooden ball
to the neck witha bit of wood
glue and a wooden dowel
that runs the length of the upper body.

Queen Anne Cage Doll

This Queen Anne
has been in the works for months...
waiting for that nudge of inspiration.
I felt that nudge after visiting The Old Pretenders
website and blog several weeks ago.
Please take a moment to stop by and visit them...
they can be found under our list of "favorites."

New Cage Doll in the Works!

I found this rusted, metal plant or candle holder at a local
Salvation Army Thrift Store.
I am thinking that it will make a great base
for my next cage doll.
The next task... give it several coats of gray primer.
And then... wait to be inspired!  Daryle

The Collector is Finished!

It seems like I have been working on this guy forever!  My newest cage doll:  "The Collector!"  Please visit my page at Cloth & Clay to see more photos.  I incorporated encaustic medium in his hang tag and wings, and used a new one-step crackle medium (that worked like a dream!).
Enjoy!  Daryle

The Collector has a face (or two!)

I'm leaning towards the dark curls!

The Collector has a face (or two!)

A little paper-clay,
some big, brown 16mm flat paperweight eyes,
a bit of wool hair...
and the Collector finally has a personality that is emerging!
The big question is: dark curls OR wavy auburn?

The Collector!

This little guy is taking on "a life of his own!" His waist jacket-vest is cut from a single piece of wool felt. His hat is wool felt as well. He still needs some paper-clay hands, forearms and a face!
The three clear glass vases that are part of the wire basket will eventually be filled with his "finds."
Enjoy... Daryle

New Cage Doll Progress!

The rusty wire basket provided a perfect cage for this little guy! When finished, he will be about 22 inches tall. His body is cotton canvas duck. He will eventually have paper-clay facial features, glass eyes, and... I am thinking a "woodland gnome" like look. Enjoy! Daryle
