Barn Owl... Layers Upon Layers!

Papers, Inks, Paint, Paste... Repeat!

I'm pleased with his wings...
tissue papers, photocopied images, and paints... oh my!
His personality continues to emerge...

"Dreams"... A Barn Owl!

Skin and Bones... it's a beginning!
A little "fattening up"... for the holidays!
Some Paper Clay... applied!
He's still a work-in-progess...
but his personality is beginning to emerge!

 Be blessed... Daryle

What a Hoot!

Who is that masked man? Er... Owl?
A parliament of owls...
two Saw-Whet, two Barn, one Great Horned!
Humble beginnings: Just a lot of hot-air!
(and masking tape!)
What a Hoot... Great Horned Owl!
Applied papers, paper pulp, paper clay, fabric...
He found a new home...

"Autumnal Voices..."

This guy was originally designed
with a soft body in mind...

But as I worked on him...
I soon realized that he was "destined" for more...
(more than a mere body!)

He began emerging from a combination of
mulberry papers, wire and theatre gauze... in a cocoon!

Inspired by some of E. E. Cummings poetic phrases...
I just found out that this little guy will be in
the upcoming special edition of Art Doll Quarterly!
Blessed... beyond measure...

Raven Finds a Home...

Raven was "sitting pretty"... at the opening of the show:
"The Messenger of Hope"
I believe he sold the night the gallery exhibit opened,
for which I'm ever grateful!
I was pleased with the way in which the undercoat;
using oxide ink sprays "surfaced" (and not too subtly)
after adding the final black top coat...

Sigh... he's found a new home!

The Messenger... in the Making!

"The Messenger"... a mixed-media & paper maché Raven!
Adding more primary and secondary feathers
to his wings and tail, later today...
He is headed to the Associate Artist Show
at Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts
later in mid-March.

I love the process...

This was a new approach for me:
Designing a 3-D body armature using cardboard.
Yup... enjoyed every moment of cutting, fitting, refitting,
taping, recutting... (you get the idea)!

"In the beginning..."

Thanks for stopping by... be blessed!

W.I.P.: A Bird on the Head is Worth Two in the Bush!

New Year's Blessing to You and Yours!

I'm working on a feisty, new feline friend...

When he's finished...
he will be headed to the Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts
show: "Black & White"

I just added some modeling paste and decorative papers...
after building up his nose (4x larger) and adding
some "baggage" under his eyes, along with
new, heavy eyebrows.

Paper Maché texture... and toes!

Newspaper, toweling tubes and masking tape...

Wood bead eyes and wire whiskers!

Leap-Frog anyone?

Our humble beginnings in life!
