Think Snow!

These two little "stubbies" are headed for the WINTRY MIX show
at Riverfront Renaissance Center for the Arts!

Both "Moonlight" & "Snow" are looking for a new home this winter!
And yes... we're expecting some snow this weekend in South Jersey!

Stubbies… Awaiting Their Wings!

How about a little color, to lift our drear winter spirits?
Six little stubbies… (impatiently) waiting for their wings!
Happy Wednesday!  Daryle

Stubbies!

I'm hoping that several of my newest dolls will be
accepted in the "Wintry Mix" show that is scheduled to open
later this month in the main gallery at the Riverfront Renaissance
Center for the Arts...

das Kind des Winters... "winter's child"

The question is: What mischievous shenanigans will they get into?

Here's their story:
I started out with a simple body pattern with shortened arms and legs.
(hence: "stubbies!")

Pulled out some fun fabrics and vintage buttons.

Transferred some vintage photos to some fabric...

Sewn.. and ready to stuff!

Rusty wire wings with German text from a vintage book
and sprinkles of German Glass Glitter.

Just because...

mein kindheits freund

My Childhood Friend
translated from the German: mein kindheits freund

I've found myself fascinated, in recent months,
by images, roadside sightings and artist's renditions of... owls!

This guy stands 13.5 inches tall, has undergone multiple
trial-and-error changes from inception... and quite frankly,
is still a work in progress! (I wouldn't have it any other way)

In design... he started out with some recycled cardboard,
repurposed styrofoam board and a styrofoam ball.

Adding some repurposed-recycled stuffing and stovepipe wire
with a little (actually a LOT) of masking tape to hold it all together...

Well... he ended up looking rather, hmmmmm
Not at all what I envisioned!

And so, in the infamous words of the Queen of Hearts:
"Off with their heads!"
The styrofoam ball removed... has given him a new lease on life.
What a great way to start a new year, huh?

Happiest New Year Blessings... Daryle
