Hands... for Harvest Moon!

After adding some deep smile lines
to the corners of his mouth...
I worked on his hands!
But what should he hold?
What do you think a romantic, ageless
Harvest Moon would gently hold in his hands???

Bottle Doll Challenge...

I finished his man-in-the-moon paper clay head today...
He still needs a couple coats of gesso
and then all of the "fun" painting begins!
Some wired, paper clay arms are in the works...
Thank you for sharing this moment!

Art Doll Quarterly Challenge... I'm in!

The spring 2011 issue of Art Doll Quarterly
invites doll-makers to find an unusual bottle
and then incorporate it in the creation of an art doll!
I have challenged my friends at Cloth and Clay Dolls
to join me in this creative venture!
After living in Vermont for twenty-eight years,
one of the things I miss most are the sugar maples in the fall,
with a full harvest moon rising over the Green Mountains.

When I recently came across this wonderful dark amber,
veined maple leaf bottle at a Goodwill Store (marked $1.99)...
I knew I had found my bottle for the challenge!
“Harvest Moon” is dedicated to all those romantics out there,
who love to sit under the light of the harvest moon!
Let the challenge begin... Daryle

Book Faeries... Are Finished!

These guys have been
so much fun to work on...
I hope to post them at Doll Town
in the next day or two!

Each doll has articulated arms with wood ball-joints,
a "crackled" paper clay head, wooden checkerboard stenciled wings,
a vintage book, and thematic accessories...
Enjoy this day!  Daryle

St. John's Wort...

Our St. John's Wort is in bloom...
We put this in three year's ago;
it loves our shaded backyard, near the house.
